A Vintage Inspired Bridal Shower at Un Lugar de Paz

This past weekend we celebrated my baby sister Claire with a vintage inspired bridal shower, and I still can’t believe she’s getting married. It feels like just yesterday we were fighting over the remote and playing dress up, so planning her bridal shower—something that felt so her—was really special.

Claire’s not the type to want a big, flashy event. She’s always been more about real connection than over-the-top attention. So instead of a traditional shower, we decided to keep things small and meaningful—just twenty of our closest friends and family. Every woman in the room had helped shape Claire into the person she is today, and it felt so personal being surrounded by that kind of love.

We leaned into a vintage ‘60s/‘70s vibe—think bold colors, groovy details, and just the right amount of funky. It was colorful, playful, and a little nostalgic, just like Claire. {Check out her Lana Del Rey inspired Engagement Session here.} The venue, Un Lugar de Paz, already has so much character, so we didn’t have to do much to make it shine. It was the perfect setting for an intimate dinner party, with the warmest atmosphere and the kind of charm you can’t fake.

For the florals, I sent my inspo board to Lauren at La Boutique and told her to run wild. And wow—she delivered. The arrangements were vibrant and whimsical, and she even included swamp lilies. That might sound a little odd, but it was actually perfect—we’ve called Claire the “swamp queen” for years because she’s obsessed with alligators and murky greens. It was one of those weirdly specific personal touches that made us laugh and feel like, yep, this just makes sense.

Then there was the cake. Brentley Bakes took the same approach—just the inspo board and creative freedom—and came up with the most fun, retro-inspired cake. It was colorful, a little funky, and absolutely delicious. The kind of cake you don’t want to cut because it’s just so pretty, but also… you have to cut because it’s that good. And it wouldn’t have been a proper party without Aunt Ermelinda’s famous fried pies. I think I had at least three chocolate pies before we even had dinner.

Main Character Energy: Claire’s Effortlessly Retro Bridal Look

Claire looked exactly like the main character she is. She wore the sweetest vintage-inspired mini bridal gown from Watters that felt like it was made just for her—playful, a little flirty, and totally timeless. She paired it with the most fun, colorful Betsey Johnson kitten heels that added the perfect pop of personality. And her hair and makeup? Full Priscilla Presley vibes. The big volume, soft waves, and bold liner tied everything together and gave her that effortlessly glam, retro look. It was so perfectly Claire—a mix of classic, quirky, and cool, all at once.

Core Memories Activated

As perfect as the dinner party was, my favorite part of the night came after everyone else had gone home. We popped a little champagne, threw on Passport to Paris (a classic Mary-Kate and Ashley favorite), and had a sleepover—just like we used to. My sisters and I ended up staying up way too late, laughing until we couldn’t breathe, talking about everything and nothing. It took us straight back to when we were kids, all bunked up in the same room, being way too loud until Dad came in and told us to please go to sleep.

Claire, I’ll never forget this night. It was beautiful, heartfelt, and so full of joy. Planning it for you was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds for you and Santiago. You deserve the absolute best.
