What is the first thing you think of when you hear moody cemetery engagement session? Do you want to know my first thoughts? ICONIC. Like, how many photographers are lucky enough to have a couple with such a unique idea? When Davina and I had our initial consult call earlier this year she mentioned that one of the things that she and Robert loved to do was visit New Orleans and stroll through their historic cemeteries. We started talking about their engagement session, and she knew exactly what she wanted.
When I pulled up to meet them, they stepped out of their car, and I started screaming internally. Their outfits were perfectly curated, down to the Doc’s. And her ring! Talk about perfection! This is Texas, so it was a hot 87 degrees, and overcast, so it basically could have been a moody fall morning.
I couldn’t have dreamed up a better moody cemetery engagement session if I had planned it myself. We met at City Cemetery #1 around 9am to try and beat the heat, and by the end of our time together we were all ready to get back in the air conditioner. We spent a while strolling through the cemetery, taking in some of the breathtaking monuments. After that we headed to explore St. Paul Square, where we ended with a champagne pop and waiting for a passing train.
Davina and Robert’s love is undeniable. Their wedding is set for Halloween night at the gorgeous Ivy Hall, and I absolutely cannot wait!
