There’s something magical about springtime in Texas—especially when the bluebonnets are in full bloom. So when Tori reached out in early March wanting an engagement session that honored her and her fiancé JP’s Texas roots, we knew we had to find the perfect patch of wildflowers to tell their love story.
Tori and JP are planning an intimate elopement for their wedding, but they wanted to celebrate their engagement in a way that felt true to who they are. After scouting all over South Texas and the Hill Country—and navigating a few reschedules thanks to unpredictable spring weather—we finally stumbled upon the perfect setting: Harper Hill Ranch in Seguin.
The day of the session started off gray and drizzly, and I was a little nervous about how things would turn out. When we arrived, I mentioned the gloomy morning to Steve, one of the owners of Harper Hill, and he just smiled and said, “Oh no, it’s always sunny and beautiful out here at Harper Hill.” Sure enough, just as golden hour arrived, the skies parted and we were greeted by the most dreamy sunset spilling across the fields of bluebonnets.
From the moment we stepped into that sea of wildflowers, everything felt a little surreal. Tori and JP ran barefoot through the hills, laughing and soaking in the magic of the moment. I had them lay down among the bluebonnets for a few quiet portraits, and when Tori stood up, a few tiny petals had tangled gently into her hair. It looked like something out of a painting—soft, romantic, and completely effortless.
And as if the Texas charm wasn’t enough, the longhorns at Harper Hill decided to join us for a few frames. It was the perfect nod to the couple’s Southern roots and added even more personality to their Texas bluebonnet engagement session.
Styling-wise, JP kept it simple and classic with a white tee, jeans, and his trusty cowboy hat. Tori wore the sweetest lace dress paired with boots, a look that perfectly complemented the rustic, sun-soaked landscape. Her second outfit, a sweet, white, off-the-shoulder top paired with jeans, was inspired by Megan + Dyllan’s engagement photos. The whole session gave off major Charlie Crockett vibes—timeless, a little nostalgic, and full of heart. It felt like we were capturing stills from an old-school country music video, set right in the heart of Texas.
Sessions like these remind me why I do what I do. There’s nothing quite like documenting love in the places that hold so much meaning. Tori and JP’s Texas bluebonnet engagement session wasn’t just beautiful—it was a celebration of their roots, their future, and the wild, wonderful place they call home.
