Rainy Summer Engagement Session | Pleasanton, Texas

Couples, Featured

It doesn’t get better that Megan and Dyllan’s rainy summer engagement session. I’ve know Megan all my life and was so honored to be able to capture her engagement photos. We decided to take them at her family’s hay field, and it was the most gorgeous backdrop we could have asked for. There was a storm rolling in as we ran around, which made the scene so moody. I didn’t do a lot of posing, because honestly, they didn’t need it. Just photographing the two of them interacting with each other made for the most romantic photos.

A FROLICK IN THE FIELD

It was a moody summer day with rain in the forecast, but that didn’t deter us. As we drove through Megan’s family hay field to our location, the grass danced in the wind. You could smell the rain coming. One of the best smells in the world if you’re from the middle of nowhere. When Megan got out of the truck I watched as Dyllan’s eyes followed her, a smile on his face the whole time. We walked out into the field and I immediately started clicking away with my camera. Their love and adoration of each other comes so naturally that not a lot of direction was needed.

The two of them running around the hay field was so picturesque. We did a few posed photos, and then I prompted them to chase each other around the field. This is one of my favorite prompts because it usually turns my couples into kids again!

Back at the truck, Dyllan popped the tailgate down and Megan pulled out a couple of Michelob’s. We could see the storm moving in closer as we hung out and snapped a few more photos. As they drank the last few sips of their beers we felt a few big rain drops, and then the sky just opened up. Showering us with a heavy rain.

STRAIT OUT OF A MOVIE

We all ran to our vehicles, Megan and Dyllan in his truck, and my sister, Claire, and I in mine, hoping the storm would pass quickly and we could get back out there. After a few minutes, and spotting a plastic HEB bag in my passenger side door, I had a crazy idea. So we called up Megan, ran it by them, and next thing you know the four of us are out in the rain!

I could barely see what I was getting on my screen, but the photos were SO WORTH IT! Megan and Dyllan absolutely NAILED IT. They went all in and I swear it felt like a scene straight out of Sweet Home Alabama. The dreamiest rainy summer engagement session we could have asked for.
